Can a 13 year old watch Velma? ›

Nevertheless, the show is downright awful. I don't recommend this for anyone, no matter your age.

Kaling's Velma is now Indian, while Wu's Daphne is portrayed as Asian, and Richardson's Norville is African American rather than being white. Fred is the only Scooby-Doo character to remain the same.

According to Scooby-Doo Team-Up #50, Pup's Velma is 9 years old. This would make Fred and Daphne 10, and Shaggy 11. Scooby would be 1. According to vast amounts of promotional material, in Where Are You, Velma is 15, Fred and Daphne are 16, Shaggy is 17 and Scooby is 7.

It might appeal to fans of the original Scooby-Doo cartoons or other Hanna-Barbera productions. Although the target audience is children aged 6-10 years, the movie has too much violence and crude language and too many scary characters for children under 8 years.

Although there is some adult humor and sexual jokes, the official 16+ rating feels a bit excessive to me. This show would be most appropriate for kids 13 and up, but it does depend on your child.
