KING, James James (Jim) Edward King, 79 years of age, resident of Morganton, GA died of complications from prostate cancer on Wednesday, March 16th. Born August 10, 1931 in Dearborn Michigan, he spent most of his early years traveling with his parents while his father served in the United States Army. He attended schools in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi, Korea, and finally Pennsylvania.

He graduated from Duke University in 1954 with a commission in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy for 4 years with tours of duty in the Mediterranean and various other stations during the Cold War on board destroyers as a gunnery officer, and in submarine service. Following Naval duty Jim, Peggy and their children moved to Decatur, Georgia where he became the head of security for Emory University, and President of the Emory Credit Union. Upon retirement and the passing of his wife, he moved to Morganton, Georgia, where he resided until his death at Hospice Atlanta. He enjoyed traveling the world, was a dedicated Blue Devil basketball fan, avid fisherman, patriotic political fund-raiser and active in his community, in particular with the Laurel Ridge Lions Club.

Jim is pre-de-ceased by the love of his life, wife of 46 years, Margaret (Peggy) Fisher King and his parents, Dale Maxwell King and Dorothea Peters King. Jim is survived by children Carol Findley (Robert), James E. King, Jr. (Gail), Mary Farris (James) and Janet King; grandchildren Mitchell Farris, Eric Findley, Kimberly Farris, James E. King III, and Ariel King; and sister Audree Weldon (Thomas); along with several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Born in 1950 in St Louis, MO, Cherryl received a Bachelor and Master education at Georgia State University. She went on to teach in Gwinnett Co schools until she retired. Cherryl enjoyed music and participated in choir and hand bell groups at First Baptist Church in Lilburn. She sang with the Jubalairs for many years and traveled throughout Georgia and Europe singing for the Lord and sharing her testimony in song.

She had a big heart for those who were going through difficulty and found ways to comfort and encourage them in word or deed. Frances was brought up in the church and as she grew physically, her spiritual life blossomed. As one of the first six members of Caleb Road Baptist Church of Centerville, GA, her love of God touched many in the Centerville community. In recent years she joined Zoar United Methodist Church and was a member of the Guiding Light Sunday school class. Frances was a dedicated teacher on both the college and high school levels.

She retired many years ago from Decatur High School, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year. Her many passions included gifts to childrenis organizations such as World Vision and a great concern for all of God's animals and their care. In lieu of flowers she would be honored by contributions made to children and youth groups or to any of the animal support organizations. A memorial service to honor the life of Frances Lovingood will be held at Zoar United Methodist Church, Snellville, GA. at 1 p.m.
