Winning was at a premium for the Mets’ minor league affiliates on Thursday, though Brett Baty and Luisangel Acuña put on a show as Syracuse accounted for the lone victory.

TRIPLE-A

LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS (28-36) 4, SYRACUSE METS (40-25) 14

BOX SCORE

  • 2B Brett Baty: 3-for-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 3 RBI (9) (1.375 OPS)
  • CF Luisangel Acuña: 4-for-5, BB, 2B, 4 RBI (21) (.672 OPS)
  • RF Ben Gamel: 2-for-4, 2 R, HR (7), 2 RBI (23) (.981 OPS)
  • LF Trayce Thompson:2-for-5, 2B, RBI (42) (.828 OPS)

Syracuse’s offense took a while to get going, but it quickly erased a 2-0 Lehigh Valley lead after scoring all 14 runs during the final four innings of the game. Baty remained hot after his recent demotion, putting the Mets up for good following a two-run single in the fifth, while Acuña notched his fourth multi-hit game over his previous five outings.

  • RHP Dom Hamel (4.76 ERA) 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, BB, 4 K (60 of 94 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Eric Orze (2.79 ERA) 2 IP, H, BB, 3 K
  • RHP Ty Adco*ck (3.32 ERA) 1 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, BB, 2 K

Hamel turned in one of his better starts of recent memory while throwing a season-high six innings on the night.

DOUBLE-A

SOMERSET PATRIOTS (30-30) 12, BINGHAMTON RUMBLE PONIES (29-29) 5

BOX SCORE

  • 2B Rowdey Jordan:1-for-5, R, HR (4), 2 RBI (10), K (.691 OPS)
  • 1B Ryan Clifford: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K (.783 OPS)
  • LF Omar De Los Santos: 1-for-3, R, RBI, K (.571 OPS)
  • DH Nolan McLean:0-for-4, 3 K (.501 OPS)

Binghamton took an early 2-1 lead in the third inning after Jordan blasted his fourth home run of the year, his first since May 14, but Somerset later ran away with the game on the back of a five-run fourth.

McLean’s struggles at the plate with the Rumble Ponies persisted as he struck out three times and hasn’t recorded a hit over his last six contests.

Suarez largely cruised through the opening three frames of the game before the Patriots chased him in the fourth inning. He has now allowed five or more earned runs in three of his last four starts.

Juarez and Ramos, two of Binghamton’s more reliable bullpen arms, further put the game out of reach for the Rumble Ponies after ceding a combined six runs in the eighth inning.

HIGH-A

HUDSON VALLEY RENEGADES (32-27) 6, BROOKLYN CYCLONES (30-30) 5

BOX SCORE

  • LF Kellum Clark:1-for-3, RBI (3) (.773 OPS)
  • 1B Mateo Gil: 2-for-4, R, 2 K (.718 OPS)
  • CF Nick Morabito: 2-for-3, R, 2 BB (.802 OPS)
  • 3B Nick Lorusso: 2-for-4, BB, 3 RBI (30), HR (8) (.856 OPS)

The Cyclones fell behind 4-0 after the second inning but came roaring back and made it 4-3 in the third after Lorusso hit a three-run homer for his eighth of the season. Brooklyn also loaded the bases with no outs during the seventh inning in a 6-4 game, but a double play and a strikeout eliminated the threat and led to a loss.

Pintaro, who as recently as two weeks ago was playing for the Glacier Range Riders of the Pioneer League, followed up a successful organizational debut with another solid outing as he gets acclimated to affiliated ball. Hejka and Cornielly also shined with three perfect innings in relief.

LOW-A

The St. Lucie Mets (19-39), after being rained out on Wednesday, received the same bad news on Thursday as their doubleheader against the Jupiter Hammerheads (32-26) was postponed. The two sides will attempt to play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m.

FLORIDA COMPLEX LEAGUE

FCL METS (11-15) 0, FCL MARLINS (18-7) 3

BOX SCORE

The Mets’ bats were completely shut down on Thursday as they recorded just two hits during a shortened six-inning affair.

In his first game in just over a month after being transferred from St. Lucie, Ovalles was rather dominant in his two innings of work.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE

DSL METS ORANGE (2-5) 0, DSL TIGERS 2 (4-4) 2

BOX SCORE

Much like their counterparts in the Complex League, DSL Mets Orange couldn’t muster much of anything on the offensive end on Thursday while losing their fifth game in a row.

Paulino was rather impressive in the first start of his professional career while Cadiz has yet to give up a run in 7 1/3 innings pitched this year.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE

DSL RANGERS BLUE (6-1) 13, DSL METS BLUE (2-5) 11

BOX SCORE

Six of DSL Mets Blue’s starters notched a hit in this one while the two sides combined to draw 26 walks and strike out 25 times.

One of just two pitchers for either team to not allow a run on Thursday, Cornelia has three scoreless outings to his name so far this year while punching out six batters over five innings.
